Greenfingers Poem by Katria
I like the gardening, When the weather is fine, When the grass is green, When the tree is greenish, When the crops are ready to eat.
Support – Arts – Gardening- Education
SAGE provides therapeutic arts and horticulture programmes for people whose lives have been affected by mental illness.
By providing a welcoming community within a thriving green space and choir group, SAGE helps lift the mood of our members through building their self-confidence and boosting self-esteem.
Through a wide range of therapeutic activities, our members receive an enjoyable way to improve their mental and physical wellbeing. We like to find out what our members are fond of doing, and then give them the support and encouragement to do this.
At our allotment we have raised beds for those with mobility issues. We also provide healthy meals onsite, made with the fruits and vegetables we grow at the allotment.
Our aim is to educate members during our choir and allotment groups, whilst also providing days out and trips in Sheffield and the surrounding areas. This can show our members places they’ve never been to, or introduce familiar places in a new light; which helps expand their social circle and areas they see as a safe space, by opening their mind up for more opportunities.
It’s been so good to get out together. I really value these trips. It helps build friendships.
It’s been a really happy day. Thanks so much – I really needed it!
It’s just brilliant having chance to get a away from it all in nature.

I like the gardening, When the weather is fine, When the grass is green, When the tree is greenish, When the crops are ready to eat.

I like when the weather is mild, I like when people are chatting and chatting again and again, I like when people are moving and moving on.

SAGE has recently finished a 9 month Arts Council funded project with local ceramicist and art therapist Emilie Taylor.

SAGE view their art work in the Winter Gardens – huge thanks to Alex & Carys at Ignite Imaginations for organising such a fantastic project!

At Sheffield Cathedral, 8th of February 2019, saw 600 people join our celebration of the power of community and singing.
